Almost nobody wakes up wanting to see a notary. Getting something notarized is a step on the way to something else, and it usually lands at an inconvenient moment: a closing date, a deadline at work, a parent whose paperwork needs sorting out this week rather than next.
That is the reason we do what we do. We come to you, we give you the cost before we drive, and we keep the appointment short. We are friendly and professional about it, and we smile. Whatever brought you to needing a notary is often hard, sometimes painful, and sometimes just annoying. Making that one piece of it go well is the part of this work we find most fulfilling.
Why we started doing this
We got commissioned in 2023 expecting straightforward errand work, and some of it is. A good share of it turns out to matter more than that, which surprised and inspired us.
We have signed advance directives at bedsides. We have met families sorting out a power of attorney for a parent who can no longer drive, in a week when driving was the least of what they were dealing with. We have met people who simply could not get out of the house and had been putting off a document for months because of it. In those appointments the notarization is a small technical act sitting inside something much larger. The kindest thing we can do is be competent, unhurried, and quick to leave, and it is a privilege to make someone's life a little less complicated in the middle of that larger thing.
We have also had plenty of appointments that were nothing more than a busy person needing one box ticked, who told us afterward that it was one less thing to think about. That is just as good a reason to do this well.
How we work
Text us what you need notarized first. We will tell you whether a Colorado notary can handle it, anything you need to have ready, and what the total will be, including travel. That quote comes before anyone commits to anything, and we do not change it after the fact.
If a document is not something we can notarize, we will say so on that first text. If what you need is a lawyer, we will say that too. We are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice, so sometimes the most useful thing we can do is point you to one.
Hours, and the exception to them
Our general hours are 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, and evenings and weekends cost the same as a Tuesday morning.
Those are our preferred hours rather than a hard cutoff. Hospitals and emergencies do not keep business hours, and neither does a document that has to be signed tonight. If you are outside the window and it cannot wait, ask anyway.
What comes next
For now the practice is the two of us, and we would like that to change. We are looking for commissioned Colorado notaries who want to work this way: coming to people, unhurried in the room, straight about what things cost.
