The drive up, and what it costs
Longmont sits far enough from Boulder that the trip is a real part of the price. Notarization is $15 per document (more on that here) wherever you live, and travel starts at $50. What changes trip to trip is the distance, so we confirm the total with you before either of us gets in the car.
Main Street, and the neighborhoods around it
Longmont kept its own center of gravity: the historic downtown along Main Street, the storefronts and offices clustered there, and the newer retail built up around the Village at the Peaks. We meet signers in offices along Main Street, in a parking lot off Ken Pratt before someone’s shift starts, and at kitchen tables in the older neighborhoods east of Main where families have owned the same house for thirty years.
The paperwork that brings people here
A large share of Longmont has lived here across generations, and a lot of what gets notarized reflects that: powers of attorney for an aging parent, affidavits tied to a family property transfer, healthcare directives an adult child finally talked a parent into signing, usually at a moment nobody enjoys. None of it is legally complicated, but all of it needs an unexpired photo ID and a signature you save for the appointment. Bring the document unsigned. Signing early is the most common reason one of these has to be redone.
These are also the appointments where we can’t help beyond the signature. We can confirm the ID, watch the signature happen, and seal the certificate, but we can’t tell you whether the document does what your family needs it to do; that’s a conversation for an attorney or for the office that issued the form. We also can’t serve as a witness on anything we’re notarizing, so if the paperwork calls for a separate witness, plan for a second person to be there.
What this doesn’t cover
We do general notary work: signature witnessing, acknowledgments, and jurats. We don’t do loan closings, apostille, or remote online notarization yet, so if a document needs one of those we’ll say so on the first text. Most other questions are answered on the FAQ page.
